5. What are some current trends in your industry? The new trends in catering are endless. Some of these trends that Big City Catering has been incorporating into our menus are strolling food stations, wedding day brunches, late night food menus, signature drinks, tapas style menus, and much more.
6. How do you aid brides to be in finding inspiration? Our first step is to sit down and meet with our clients to get a clear vision of what they want for their special day. The menu helps become part of what makes your wedding unique, memorable and truly stand out. We help create individualized menus for each event and it’s our goal to make the food and beverage side to their planning as simple and easy as it can possibly be. At Big City Catering, we make everything from scratch and make each menu personally fit the client’s needs.
7. Tips for Food and or Cake ides for a bachelorette or bridal party? For a bachelorette or bridal party, you want to remember to match the menu to the style of your event. For an afternoon tea party, you would want to do finger sandwiches and fruit salad. A girl’s night out on the town? We recommend something heavier like gourmet miniature pizzas and dips. Start with a theme for your event then plan the menu around it. The most unique bridal shower/bachelorette event we have done is a spa party with a menu including small little sandwiches, cucumber water, refreshing salads, herbal teas and crudité platters. We helped round out the theme with lavender scented candles, eucalyptus branches, herbal teas and soothing music.
8. What is the craziest request you have every received? At a recent wedding we did at the Lake Mary Events Center, our bride and groom had a unique request for the “favors”. They both agreed that nothing is better at the end of a great party then a snack on the way home. They decided to bring in the famous Krystal Burgers (the groom’s favorite) and set them on display for their guests to enjoy. Everyone was raving about what a clever and exciting new way it was to present “late night munchies”. (bride and groom eating a krystal photo)
9. How do you help brides create a themed Food/Deseret/ or Cake for their party? No one can take a theme and run with it on a menu better than Big City. Every party should have some kind of theme to tie everything together. From tea parties to around the world travel, we’ve seen them all. That’s why most of our menus on the website are based around different themes. Based upon what the client is looking for on their menu, we can sometimes help them to develop the theme around the food.
